Tuesday Thoughts

Sometimes I think Ohio is really Florida and other times I think Ohio is Alaska. Just a few days ago we barely struggled to hit 50 degrees and now we are getting close to 80 degrees and sunny. So I decided to open the windows and get the heat inside before we go back to 40 and cold.
These are perfect days for a nice walk outside and chance to listen to some Mp3s from my favorite catholic authors like Scott Hahn, Jeff Cavins, Matthew Kelly and others. It is always nicest to walk when the temperature is in the 60s-70s and no humidity. But, the problem is I get used to that, and then use the excuse its too hot or too cold if the temperature fluctuates from that.
I seem to use that in my prayer life too, Sometimes it is not the "right temperature" to pray. I might be too tired or too busy or too engaged in watching a favorite tv show. When I first went back to the faith I decided I am going to read my bible at least 5 minutes every day. I usually do that when I wake up or before I go to bed because that is the either the first thing or last thing I read every day. That way I begin and end the day on the right note when my focus is on God.
I would be interested to hear what others think on how they keep their prayer life focused. Tomorrow my wife and I celebrate our 3 year annivesary so I will not be blogging, but I will be back on Thursday. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

hey Mike, first of all, I am glad you guys enjoyed your day! If you think three years went fast, try looking at your 20th anniversary, as I will be doing this Thursday. May 15, 1988 seems like yesterday sometimes! There are a lot of ups and downs, but there's a saying that couples who put God first have marriages that last. As for prayer, I have a whole bunch of scripture cards all over the house: at my computer, by the kitchen sink, even in the bathroom (where I keep a Bible because with four kids that is sometimes the only reading spot I can find!). Keeping God's Word physically present is what triggers me to pause and thank Him for all the blessings He has given me.
